My apologies for sending an email blast twice in two days, but the second section of today’s email is my job hunt details! Please forward (or critique) as you see fit. Have a great evening!
Hay Day
Today I loaded 175 bale trailer by myself. I got home and took a shower, and now I have taken on the appearance and form of a beached jellyfish.
Not only is 175 more than the 100 bale loads we did last week, but you have to stack higher to get it all on the trailer: 6-high rather than 4-high. I optimistically thought that after a relaxing weekend full of protein, I would be able to stack 5-high, but no dice. I had to build myself stairs using the next stacks until 6-high became 4-high. So it felt like all of the bales at level 5 and 6 got stacked at least twice; first to get up onto my stairs and again to get up to the next level.
I started stacking at 10:00, took lunch from 11:45-12:30, and finished around 1:15. There were lots of breaks.
At one point I rolled my ankle better than I have in a long time — stepping down into a weird break between bales and putting my full weight down on the outside of my ankle. I think I heard a crunch. Luckily, my years of cross country practice paid off and I immediately popped up to walk it off. Also luckily, that seemed to do the trick and I was able to carefully finish my last stack without incident. If I keep this farming thing up, I should probably invest in a pair of laced boots rather than the Chelsea boots I’ve been getting away with.

Tomorrow
Career fair tomorrow. I don’t know if I’ll find anything — I haven’t done the super prepared thing yet and looked up the companies and roles I want to investigate. I did send my resume to the event organizer and we’ll see if anything comes of that.
This afternoon if I can un-jellyfish myself for a few minutes I will print resumes and I was thinking about a sort of index-card summary of what I’m looking for and a quick run down of my qualifications. Let me do that now, actually.
An hour later… Wish me luck tomorrow! And if you know anyone… send them my way.
