Hello! Long time no see. It’s been a whirlwind of a last week and a half but now I am home at my kitchen table reflecting and looking forward to the next week and month ahead. Let’s take a look:
Last week:
Spent Memorial Day driving home from the Rappahannock River and recuperating
Used Tuesday to unpack, do a load of laundry, and go to an appointment
Spent Wednesday up at my brother’s house hanging out and hoping to get Charlie mentally prepared for spending the weekend there without us (it worked a little too well, he didn’t want to go home Weds afternoon)
Thursday morning packed, handed off Charlie to my parents to take back up to Maryland, and drove to Hatteras
Spent Friday in bed with a gnarly head cold, recovering just in time to make an appearance at the wedding we were on the island for — E went to the Graveyard of the Atlantic museum and loved it
Took the ferry to Ocracoke Saturday for lunch and shopping. Just barely made it to the beach that evening before a thunderstorm to find a couple shells and stick our feet in the ocean
Drove home yesterday
The weekend was way too short and made even shorter by being bedridden for a day, but it was still a good time. We got to catch up with lots of E’s family and take a short break from parenting the 2.5 year old, who had such a fun weekend with his cousins that I don’t think he really wanted to come home.
This week:
Now that the rush of the last two weeks is over, June feels refreshingly blank. As per usual, I want to do everything at once.
Today I’ve tidied up a little bit and gone to the grocery store. This afternoon I am farming — I think it might be tedder fixing time but we’ll find out.
This week I want to reset into my rhythms of daily exercise, morning pages, and writing. I want to update my resume and my LinkedIn page and follow up on my one potential employment lead I got at the beginning of May. And then I want to focus this month on my technical projects that I feel like will best add to my employability. I don’t think I’m going to force the job hunt yet — no Indeed.com marathons or career fairs — but I’m starting to lean that direction.
So, this week/month is reset and prep. Here we go!
